DESCRIPTION:

  • Perform method/compliance/quality system audits according to a pre-determined schedule.
  • Participate with the QA Team to assist operations in closing NSCs, CARs and Audits.

  • Previous QA experience is preferred.
  • Must work effectively in unstructured environment with minimal supervision.
  • Must have excellent written and oral communication skills; Good command of English.
  • Ability to organize and work independently.
  • Requires good analytical skills.

  • To deliver accurate and timely pay to employees across all regions on a bi weekly basis
  • Prepare all records of employment for terminating employees
  • Preparation of pay adjustments (example: manual cheques, retro and other special payments, garnishment deduction)

DESCRIPTION:

·         Works with others within the Human DNA Department to meet TATs for paternity and forensic casework.

·         Processes samples through all the steps of the DNA analytical procedure [extraction  (FTA, organic conventional and differential), quantification, amplification, gel/capillary electrophoresis and analysis] to generate DNA profiles suitable for interpretation for paternity and forensic casework.

·         Prepares draft paternity reports and maintains archive of paternity DNA samples.

·         Maintains accurate and detailed notes of all testing performed; maintains continuity and integrity of casework materials to prevent mislabeling, item/sample mix up, contamination, loss or degradation.

·         Complies with Maxxam’s quality system, and the accreditation requirements of relevant accrediting bodies (i.e. Standards Council of Canada, Forensic Quality Services) by following the Quality Manual for the Human DNA Department, all relevant SOPs and WIs and using and completing accurately all forms relevant to the required duties.

·         Prepares reagents and supplies (autoclaving, etc).

·         Ensures adequate reagents and laboratory supplies are available by monitoring quantities and submitting purchasing requests.

·         Follows good housekeeping practices for laboratory areas and own office area.

·         Uses correctly and maintains instruments and laboratory equipment in good working condition.

·         Reviews, recommends and implements revisions of SOPs, WIs and forms.

·         If required provides testimony in court about laboratory procedures and protocols conducted in the case under investigation.

·         Other support duties such as lab cleaning, generator testing etc. as required by the Human DNA Department.

 

QUALIFICATIONS [Minimum Requirements]:

·         Minimum of B.Sc. in Biology, Chemistry, Genetics, Molecular Biology or Forensic Science related area (College diploma with forensic experience will be considered).

·         Specialized knowledge and experience with all DNA analytical procedures (extraction, quantification, PCR set up) and instrumentation (thermal cyclers, ABI Prism 377 and 3130/3130xl Genetic Analyzers) and the accompanying software programs (Genescan, Genotyper, GeneMapper) for the analysis of samples encountered in paternity and forensic casework preferred.

·         Must be able to successfully obtain Government of Canada security clearances.

·         Requirement to be flexible to accommodate changing priorities such as rush casework on short notice.

·         Requirement for overtime work.

·         Takes initiative in problem solving in consultation with Supervisor/Technical Leader or others as appropriate.

·         Strong written and verbal communication skills.
